In the fall of 2009, following an internship with the Electronic Resources & Information Systems (ERIS) department at the Burritt Library, I began the process of helping redesign the library website interface. Through the fall and winter of 2009 and into the spring of 2010, I worked collaboratively with Ms. Deborah Herman, Head of ERIS to improve the visual design and usability of the interface. Following the completion of the first prototype, a usability study was designed and conducted with faculty and undergraduates to determine how accurately users are able to locate the information they need.

I wish to express my deepest gratitude to Ms. Deborah Herman, Director of
Electronic Resources & Information Systems at Central Connecticut State
University’s Elihu Burritt Library, who provided extensive feedback on the
website interface design developed for this project and offered the PHP and
jQuery expertise needed for its implementation. In addition, I would like to
express my gratitude for the trust she placed in my abilities and for the
personal and professional support she offered throughout the nine months it
took to design and test the interface.
To the staff and students of Central Connecticut State University, I extend my
deepest appreciation for your participation in my project.
Finally, I wish to thank my Special Project Advisor, Dr. Mary E. Brown, for her patient guidance throughout the development and completion of this
Special Project. To all of my professors in the Library Science Department for
the learning experiences provided to me during my training for the Master’s
Degree, I extend my deepest appreciation.
