Course Description
Management and operation of electronic information resources and services in library and information centers. Selection and integrating system options; finance and budget; staff and end-user training; search strategies; database publishers and vendors; hardware/software; measurement/evaluation and future planning.
Course Objectives/Student Learning Outcomes
- List and describe key electronic resources concepts and themes.
- Discuss management issues with regards to electronic resources.
- Develop a Collections Development Policy for electronic resources.
- Demonstrate an understanding of emerging electronic resources publishing and marketing practices to support cost-effective budgeting/acquisition policies.
- Discuss licensing and copyright issues for electronic resource management.
- Describe methods for organization and access of electronic resources.
- Discuss technology infrastructure for managing electronic resources.
- Evaluate and assess product performance for renewal decisions.
- Evaluate and assess service quality expectations.
- Describe methods of preservation of digital materials.
